Welcome to

YMCA CAMP SLOPER

YMCA Camp Sloper's Day Camp Program has been around since 1949 when Cornelia 'Sloper' Neil gifted the Southington YMCA her 143+ acre farm with only one request: provide programming for as many youth in the community as possible.

Today, we service over 800 campers a day during the day camp season, with ages ranging from 3-15. YMCA Camp Sloper is home to a 20 acre pond where campers can enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing.

Lead by our dedicated staff team of over 175, YMCA Camp Sloper is known as one of the best camps on the East Coast!

YMCA Camp Sloper is ACA Accredited!

What does ACA Accreditation mean?
As parents we always want to know that our children are in good hands when they are not with us.  The ACA accreditation of YMCA Camp Sloper can give our parents the confidence to know that this is true for their children when they are attending camp.

The American Camping Association is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country.  Its nationally recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health, and safety aspects of a camp's operation.  ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research based standards in camp operation.

ACA accreditation means that YMCA Camp Sloper has successfully completed a thorough review of its operation by the American Camping Association - from staff qualifications and training to emergency management - and complies with the highest standards in the industry.  The 300 standards cover the following areas: Site & Foodservice, Transportation, Health & Wellness, Operational Management, Human Resources, and Program Design & Activities, including Aquatics, Adventure/Challenge and Horseback Riding.

Accredited camp status means that parents can feel confident that their child will have a camp experience that is both fun and safe.  It is another step in a commitment to provide a life changing environment in which children can grow through new experiences while building smiles, character, and lasting memories.  The accreditation program helps camps like ours promote personal growth in a fun and safe environment for children and teens.  ACA accreditation demonstrates our commitment to quality camp programming.
